FAQs

It's a free event, how does that work?

This event is really just a big 'get-together' that started out much smaller.  The idea was never to make money, rather the trx250r.org forum members wanted to give back to the 250R community by getting fellow enthusiasts together on the Oregon Dunes for a fun weekend!

Can I bring friends & family?

Yes, everyone is welcome!  However, the main group photo is only for Honda ATC & TRX250Rs.

What are the rules & regulations for the Oregon Dunes?

Rules & regulations:  Rules for Riding OHV (Off Highway Vehicles)

Oregon ATV Safety Education card:  Ride ATV Oregon

Is there a sound / noise (dB) limit?

Winchester Bay Dunes is part of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (ODNRA) which has a current sound limit of 93 dBA.  See the Rules & Regulations link above to verify and unsure yours meets legal limit.

Do I need a off-road type tag or permit?

Yes.  To ride in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (ORDNA), you will need a $10 OHV permit.  More info can be found here:  Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Permits

Will my out of State Permit work?  No, not anymore.  ATV Permits

Where can I buy an OHV permit?

You can purchase OHV permits online HERE or to find a store that sells permits click HERE.

Do you run the other 250R Takeover events in Michigan and Oklahoma?

No we do not but both look like fun gatherings!  While our fellow trx250r.org members started the original 250R Meetup & Group Ride in Silver Lake, Michigan in 2014 - that group has now transformed into their own 250R Takeover Silver Lake Sand Dunes.  The Little Sahara, Oklahoma event at Waynoka Dunes started as the 250R Legends Tour and in 2022 the gathering changed 'ownership' and the name was then changed to 250R Takeover.

Fun fact, the riding area of Silver Lake Sand Dunes is ~700 acres; Little Sahara / Waynoka is ~ 1,600 acres; and Oregon Dunes National Recreation area is ~31,000 acres with around ~7,000 for off-highway vehicles (OHVs) to use.
